Organizing two pantries

BEFORE
Project: Two pantries, we have 2 pantries that are not working. We can’t open the door of one; the other is a constant mess. We have no place to put anything anymore.

ROOM#1 (BEFORE)

ROOM#2 (BEFORE)

PROCESS

After assessing the situation, it would make sense to change the functions of the rooms.
The first room in the hallway will now be the new storage area.
The second room in the kitchen will now fully service as a pantry. The place where all the food and food preparation items will be stored.
Since the kids like to sit at the kitchen table to do their crafts. We make a dedicated kids-craft section in the pantry. Where every item has its own place and can be easily retrieved and after use stored again.
First we started by emptying both rooms. We sorted through all the items and categorized them to food, preparation, china sets, hardly used appliances, bulk items, clutter and memorabilia.

PANTRY (AFTER)
By moving the spare china and hardly used appliances to the storage room, we found plenty of room in the pantry. We were able to clean out the whole section in the back. This is now used for baking related, pasta preparation, cans and breakfast items.

Open bags of pasta and lentils are now stored in containers for ease of use.

The kids have their own craft area outfitted with snacks and drinks.

STORAGE (AFTER)
Now that we have the pantry in place, it is time to tackle the storage room.

Bulk items go on the shelves.  We found this left extra room on the shelves – an added bonus.

We place the china sets, dishes and the hardly used appliances in the new found shelf space.

We now have room for the suitcases.

And the vacuum cleaner and steamer even have their own parking place.

AFTER
The result is 2 functional rooms to meet all their household needs.
The home owners have improved health thanks to lowered stress levels. They are in for cost-saving; no need to buy new items for items that are missing in action. They have more leisure time; order in rooms, means less time searching.
