Excited to start working on this currently divided in 2 sections bathroom. The home owners have asked me to design a Japanese Bathhouse: a peaceful and tranquil space for them to relax and enjoy the beauty of the room. A Japanese Bathhouse is actually a large wet area where you can shower first before going into the soaking tub.
The bathroom has 2 areas: the wet area is 7ft x 5 ft, the vanity area is 7 ft x 7 ft.

December 2018 Design Round #1
Here are the design drawings and multiple floorplans for the Japanese Bath house.
In this first round I presented my clients 8 different floor plans.
* Floor plan 1A+1B show the current lay-out with minor changes.
* Floor plan 2A shows a larger wet room
* Floor plan 4A is getting more creative by moving the wall outward into master to create more room and space, with a luxurious feel.Japanese Bathhouse 1-4

* Floor plan 5A centering a big shower in the middle of the room
* Floor 6A+6B are really my favorite and that is true to the question my clients had: create a Japanese Bathhouse with a soaking tub and large shower area.
This design has a separate restroom: and build a very large 30” x 69” wet area.
* Floor plan 7A is an-out-of-the-box, I always present my clients with one, as this is always a good conversation point.

Sharing some pictures of the design presentation, the chosen materials and my design inspiration with beautiful natural and earth-tone elements.
Also exploring if we can use a teak shower mat instead of tiles. Teak will bring much richness to the shower area.

January 2019 Design Round #2
My clients are exploring options and narrowing down three ideas.
-They have fallen in love with the huge shower and therefor omitting the soaking tub.
– As they were surprised how much space they actually have gained in the new lay-out, we are not moving the bedroom wall.
Playing around with 3 different option for shower size and location of vanity.Japanese Bathhouse round#2

January 2019 Final Design
My client have made the decision for the final design.
* the biggest shower we can fit in: 52″x52″
* separating the toilet with a pony wall
* they love the soap niches, so we will have three next to the toilet
* we will have a 84″ dark brown vanity, with beautiful 3-light lighting
* we will have dark wood plank tiles for the floor and one accent row
* crisp light blue tiles vertically in the shower, and tying it back in as a horizontal backsplash.
* huge soap niche for shampoos and bottles
* and pebble mosaic for the shower floor
