This kitchen actually looks good, not the one you would expect to remodel.
At second look all the appliances are on their last legs, the cabinets are too small, the lay-out is weird. And this entire part of this house is chopped up.
From left to right: the kitchen, next room is laundry room with pantry doors, and then unusable corridor and leading into the Guest bedroom with no bathroom or powder room.
The clients have always dreamt of an open-concept kitchen with a big island for the family to enjoy meals, kids do homework and entertain guests as the homeowner is actually quite the chef.
We will design a dream kitchen with a good flow that fits your space and enhances their lifestyle. Reconfigure the kitchen with an island and create additional counterspace and storage. A beautiful and functional kitchen, with an island and with room enough to cook, prep meals and entertain. Removing or adding walls to enhance the atmosphere and functionality of this kitchen and laundry room and give purpose to the corridor. Adding an additional powder room in the corridor, look at options to add a small bathroom.
Create a cohesive plan with well-designed lay-outs and meticulous space planning for your dream kitchen and address the other rooms. Reconfigure the entire space from the double oven wall to Guest bedroom. Design a dream kitchen in the perfect location, with an island and including pantry storage, reconfigure the laundry room and utilize the corridor space as a powder room. Making this main floor plan more functional, luxurious and balanced, flowing together and aesthetically more pleasing by addressing the spaces as a whole to fit their lifestyle.
DESIGN ROUND I
Is all about discovering the kitchen and hallway space, find the hidden potential, and exploring all the opportunities in the useless hallway.
Here are all the mood boards of the first Design Round.
In total 6 different kitchen designs. Larger Kitchen, different variations, Huge kitchen with the laundry room that moves to garage.
We also have 6 different designs for the Hallway: 6 different bathroom designs.
From early one, we knew we wanted these 2 7/8″ diamond sheeted mosaic that wave through the backsplash.
I was very happy to get the exact same colors to build our design on.
DESIGN ROUND II
In this round we narrowed down the options.
1. Going with the largest kitchen possible and creating a mudroom/laundry room in the garage. 
2. Making the current laundry room smaller yet creating a larger kitchen.
DESIGN ROUND III
We made our final decision; it will be the larger kitchen with the laundry room attached. And that also allow room for the dry bar.
Also, we know which bathroom lay-out we like.
TIME TO GO SHOPPING
I love taking my client to the kitchen showroom, all of a sudden, my designs come alive, and plans are solidified.
Black ebony lower cabinets, island and dry bar.
Rift oak uppers and larger full height cabinets.
DESIGN ROUND IV
This is all about fine tuning the kitchen cabinets and minor details.
FINAL DESIGN ROUND
The Final Mood Boards are always on a thicker cardboard, and these boards are a crucial reference during the remodel.
Also, the contractor receives the entire contractor file, that contains about 80-100 pages met details and instructions.

I did 11 home visits:
-6x with the homeowners for everything design related.
-2x to do a walk-through with the contractor.
-3x to visit during the remodel and visit with the contractor.
