Bathroom remodel: From dark to Moroccan inspired

This homeowner had been dreaming of a relaxing and Zen-like bathroom for the longest time.
Relaxing after a long day with 3 younger kids seemed out of reach. The dark and dated shower made showering as a necessity and an unpleasant cave experience. Until one day she decided to go for it and contact me to see if I could make her dreams come true.

This bathroom has been like this for at least 13 years, that was from the time they had bought the house, so this bathroom is probably much older. This bathroom has a good size and even the layout is good. It just needs energy! Lots of it.

New materials, new tiles, new bath tub a gut renovation and a refresh. My client has expressed a preference for Moroccan tiles and clean lines with organic elements.

When I see a bathroom like this – I only see potential. My brain starts racing and I get all these great ideas. Now it is my time to design and crack the code of this space and give the homeowners the home they have desired for so long.

OCTOBER UPDATE – FIRST DESIGN ROUND
Presenting 3 different designs for their Master Bathroom.
Design 1A and 1B are close to the original lay-out.
In design 2,  I got really creative and designed a dream closet and an amazing his and hers large vanity.

Opening up the shower added gorgeous doors to let in light. His and hers shower. New 72” vanity and new soaking 72” tub. Privacy wall for toilet. Added linen closet.

*Floor plan 1B:
Small changes from design 1A. Shower panel only, no door. Relocated the linen closet for easy access. Removed the privacy wall.

*Floor plan 2:
One door entry. Created 80 sq. ft. Master Closet with his and hers side. Access through pocket door to create more space. L-shaped large vanity. Moved shower over.

FINALIZING THE DESIGN DECEMBER
Sitting down with my clients and going over all the details, pro an cons of decisions is so helpful to come to the final design idea.

NEXT STOP: TILE WAREHOUSE
Sometimes it just helps to have 88.000 sq.ft. showroom full of tiles and flooring. Now that we now the direction of where we are going, it is all about combining the tiles together and finding that missing puzzle in the design.

Once we found the cutest little tiles 2″x2″ on a mat for the soap niche, the entire design fell into place
