These homeowners bought a house with so much potential a gorgeous home for their growing family. It did come with some flaws, yet they knew with the right designer they could create their dream family friendly kitchen. They were looking for a partnership with the designer and someone who would understand them, while cracking the code of not just a larger kitchen, but foremost the rooflines, arches and the flow of the house.

There are a lot of things they do not like about the house: the sunken living room, the height differences in the flooring (2 steps up for the living room, 3 steps up for the kitchen, 1 step down from the dining into the living room), the arches that are everywhere yet they are too narrow and too low for these immense walls.
And then the kitchen in itself has 2 roof lines, and although the kitchen is on all 4 walls, the storage is minimal. And then they have the most gorgeous view on the green belt, but not enough windows. They have a small kitchen sink window and a mini pass-through almost food truck window that they never use, even if they wanted too, it is left sliding an no plate will fit through.

The home was originally built in the seventies and we suspect several additions later, the home was perfect for the first home owners. In this day and age the home feels disconnected, with large footprints in the wrong spot, the house feels crammed in itself.

When I see a home like this – I get so excited! My brain starts spinning and I get all these great ideas.
