Japanese Inspired Bathroom
These homeowners asked me to come up with an array of new plans for their Master Bathroom and creating a more logical space. Their old bathroom divided into a small wet area and a separate small vanity area: lacking space, appeal, and functionality. From their travels, they liked the Japanese Bathhouse Style bathrooms. A concept that had not been seen too much in the US.
The goal was to create a relaxing and functional master bedroom that would be a true Master in a luxurious environment.
During the design journey, we presented eight different floor plans ranging from removing walls to flipping the spaces, to make the master bedroom a little smaller to create the ultimate wet room with a bathtub and shower and have a separate toilet area.
The homeowners fell in love with the design that gave them the biggest wet room with a large shower area of 52″x52″ and a 7 feet window to let in as much light as possible. The materials are a combination of crisp light blue glass tile in the shower, with a pebble mosaic and finishing it off with dark wood plank tiles on the floor and one row on the wall to be the focal point. Illuminated wall niches will add ambiance and double as night lights.
All these changes resulted in a large and functional Japanese inspired Bathhouse: a peaceful and tranquil space for the homeowners to relax and enjoy the beauty of their new Master Bathroom.
