Large Kitchen Transformation Layered with Blue

My company is known for cracking the code of an impossible space.
And that is exactly what we did with for this entire house.
My clients trusted me completely and agreed that an OUT-OF-THE-BOX idea was a huge dare, yet the way to move forward.

This homeowner reached out to me, because their home and the flow in this small kitchen wasn’t working anymore. The main concern for the mom was that she couldn’t keep an eye on the children, while prepping and cooking in the kitchen. And with a large family and all on different schedules, she uses the kitchen a lot. Also, the so-called bar area was right up against the gas range, no place to have young kids sit at while you are cooking. (Burn hazard)

Back in the 80s this home was considered a high-end home and was luxurious with a grand entry and several rooms, perfect to host large gatherings. However, now in this era, the home feels very disconnected and the kitchen doesn’t work anymore as we have changed our habits in the kitchen.

In the first design reveal I showed my clients 4 different floor plans with several different lay outs.
It wasn’t until the very end that they got super excited and couldn’t contain their excitement!

The OUT-OF-THE-BOX solution was the way to go!

I did some ingenious work here:
1. The kitchen would move entirely into the living room.
Result: Double the kitchen footprint. 2 walls for the kitchen perimeter, plus a kitchen island with additional storage and bar sink, plus a huge island for the family to enjoy meals with additional storage. Plus 2 large pantry cabinets.

2. The living room would move into the music room in the front of the house.
Result: a larger living room, in a cozy spot with the fireplace, and now room enough for everybody to gather around and watch movies.

3. The piano would move into the old pantry.
Result: a designated spot for the piano in a beautiful environment.

This kitchen is a Dream kitchen that was truly transformed into a gorgeous and functional kitchen.

With 2 islands, 2 sinks, 2 pantries, lots of room enough to cook and expand over the counter tops. Kids can play and do homework on the big island while the mom is cooking and keep an eye on them.

This family has been enjoying this kitchen so much. They now do lots of meal prepping and trying out new recipes, some even from the cherished Cookbook from Grandma.
